This is a video I made explaining my research for a broad audience. I developed this video through RELATE, a communications training and community engagement workshop designed to improve the dialogue between researchers and different public audiences. This was also the basis for some of the public engagement talks I have given.

I recently had the opportunity to write a short piece for ACS Axial on How Scientists Can Influence and Get Involved In Science Policy . If you're a scientist please consider getting involved!

When I was in DC at AAAS in the spring of 2016 I recorded a short spot for The Science Coalition

Volunteering / Outreach

I have had many wonderful opportunities to give back to my local community. These include volunteer opportunities, like Hour of Code or Optics demos with OSA. They also include the many outreach opportunities I've had to give talks about my research to non-scientific audiences, at events such as Science By The Pint, Cultivate Science Hour, or The Saginaw Philo-Plus group. I've also had a many opportunities to mentor younger students in our lab, through programs such as Lab & Lunch, or other informal settings.
